Berit & Floris' Story

'WOW, they are AMAZING!!!!!! We're in love with them!! Sooooooo glad we chose you as our photographer! You're not just good at your job but you're also so much fun to have around on your wedding day/weekend!'
-Berit & Floris

When Berit and Floris first got in touch with me about their destination wedding in Le Marche in Italy, I was so happy – they were planning a relaxed and intimate destination wedding with an outdoor ceremony, a photo shoot in the old walled town of Urbino and even a sunset shoot. Berit and Floris are the most fun people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

I like my clients. Actually if I don't feel like the people who are considering to hire me are people I like I might tell them that they should consider looking for a photographer that is a beter match for them on a personal level. Because when I like the people that hire me and they in return like me and they trust me to give them the best images I can make, I can create magic.

And boy did I get to create magic for this couple. Berit and Floris contacted me pretty late. Lucky for them (and for me as it later turned out) I had a cancellation on their wedding date and so I was actually still available even though they got married in June, which seems to be the most popular month for my clients. Even when meeting them for the first time, we had such a good time. I rarely find people that I have such an instant connection with. During the meeting they told me they were already pretty sure they wanted to book me for their destination wedding at Villa Marsi in the Le March region in Italy.

They took all of my advise to heart, an unplugged ceremony,  2 photographers, a golden hour shoot and plenty of time reserved for their photoshoot around Urbino. In fact because their ceremony wasn't an official one but a ceremonial one, they told me 'if we need more time during the photo shoot that's fine, we'll just postpone the ceremony'. And they meant it! The ceremony got postponed by an hour actually (which was mostly because the hair stylist was a real perfectionist ;) ), just so we (I brought a 2nd shooter and they had also hired the wonderful videographers of Beautiful Bride Films) could take all the shots we wanted.

The weekend (yes, it was an entire weekend) was nothing short of magical! Great food, beautiful scenery, a beautiful (I got teary eyed again) ceremony, the Italian light and the sweetest and fun couple of people I might have ever met!

The excitement before the wedding

I began the morning at Villa Marsi, where the bride was getting ready, and it was so relaxed, because Berit and Floris had a ceremonial wedding and therefore didn't mind if the ceremony needed to be postponed for whatever reason. Berit wore a tea length white dress with a beautiful faux neck line and Floris wore a tailor-made Italian suit and they looked so incredible. After the first look we went to Urbino for a photoshoot. Together with my second shooter and the videographers of Beautiful Bride Films we made some gorgeous images of these two beautiful people in this beautiful town.

The outdoor ceremony

The wedding took place at the lawn of Villa Marsi, and was a romantic ceremony with an amazing view. They had personal vows they wrote themselves, which everyone enjoyed. After the ceremony they walked down the aisle together and were showered with colourful confetti, and then they cut the cake.

After the ceremony

During the reception they had a quartet of saxophone musicians playing film music, which gave the afternoon a really chilled vibe. For dinner everyone sat at one long table, Italian style, and it was loved by everyone. After dinner they had some wonderful speeches, then we went away for 20 minutes for a beautiful sunset shoot after which the party got started. They had a DJ and also a saxophone player, which was a huge hit. While Floris, Berit and their guests danced the night away, this most wonderful day came to an end. I had so much fun with these two awesome people. Floris and Berit, shall we do this again next year?
