Róisín & Tom's Story

Róisín and Tom got married last summer during their destination wedding at the gorgeous Château de Lisse, which is a 14th century castle in the south of France. When the bride works for a brand I love, in this case Burberry, I’m fairly sure that a wedding is going to look very good. But if I would have been in any doubt, this went away the moment I saw the venue for this gorgeous destination wedding in the Dordogne in France. Château de Lisse is a 14th century castle and a fairy tale if ever a castle was! It’s beautiful grey stone, the gorgeous grounds around it, the stunning interior, not to mention the formidable, friendly and good humoured staff (who all speak English as well as French!) made this wedding a dream to capture. It was one of the most beautiful weddings I've shot and the sun shone all day long!

Getting ready

Róisín got ready at one of the light and pretty suites of the chateau with her mother, her 5 bridesmaids and flower girl, and the atmosphere was full of excitement. When all the girls were ready she then walked to the on site chapel to get to the ceremony.

The ceremony

The ceremony was a beautiful service at a stunning chapel on the venue grounds. During the ceremony two of the couples friends sang and played guitar and they had several beautiful readings by family members. It was so beautiful and so much fun.

The reception

The reception was out in a garden at the venue. They chose Château de Lisse because it has so many options and they could have the place for the whole weekend. It was a botanical, green and white themed wedding, which I absolutely fell in love with! I love shooting Château de Lisse weddings because the grounds are so gorgeous, the staff is absolutely wonderful (and they all speak English as well as French!) en the food is just out of this world!

They had drinks and canapés accompanied by live music in the courtyard in the afternoon, and a scrumptious dinner in the evening. They decorated the venue with ivy and festoon lights, because it worked so well with the time of year.

For dinner they served a fancy sit down multiple course meal, which was absolutely delicious. The first dance was a romantic slow dance, and they finished off the evening with a great DJ set.

My favourite part of the day was the short sunset photoshoot we did, because the light and surrounds were magical. Even though we just had about 15 minutes, it was so worth it to make use of these amazing circumstances. They also had a great trio of musicians during the first dance – which was such a great touch!

The bride & groom's style

Róisín wore two beautiful dresses and Tom wore a handsome blue suit and they looked so perfect. Róisín’s 1st dress was an amazing design by Riki Dalal with a faux neck line of 3D flower petals and Tom’s beautifully tailored suit and unusual patterned tie made for a picture perfect combination with the romantic surroundings. But with a bride working for one of Britain's oldest and leading luxury fashion brands, it didn't come as a surprise that this wedding was super stylish.

Róisín and Tom’s wedding was totally epic and everything I love about weddings. Here’s their gorgeous destination wedding in France! And if you’re planning a laid back but stylish castle wedding abroad and looking to hire a France wedding photographer then get in touch!
